Pinch, Punch, First of the month! What better time to look at what May has to offer the world of House music!
Tunes
Strictly Rhythm presents a compilation mixed by one of House music's most celebrated and influential producers, Bob Sinclar.
The french pioneer has gone mad on Stricly's back-catalog, making a sensational blend of new and old tunes meet in a compilation that really does cover. My recommended cuts include Avicii's take on Sinclars own New New New, or ATFC's
I Called U (ATFC Conversation killer mix). The album is a gorgeous fusion of the spirit of the old school house sound with the rigor of the current electronic sound, despite falling into the predictable mainstream sound of Bob Sinclar on occasions. Whether your looking for an introduction to House or to back up your collection with a few older gems, this is an album worth checking out. Pre-orders for May 5th are available from on iTunes.
Dennis Ferrer has topped every reputable DJ's charts with this sought-after hit and the remixes e.p on Defected brings a new light to one of the most infectious House releases of the last year. With cuts from the likes of Crookers, Vandalism and Tom De Neef, these fresh takes are definitely worth a listen. The original needs little-to-no improvement, but nevertheless the remixes are fresh be sure to give them a listen and purchase HERE on May 5th.
Defected truly set the standard for the whole party season with In The House Ibiza 09 and are not showing any signs of letting standards slip this year.
The album is massive! From exclusive tunes like DJ Gregory & Gregor Salto-Vem Rebola (Main Acid Mix), to new life from Paul Thomas, Sonny Wharton & Ant Brooks with Brass!, the compilation brings together some of the finest tracks in existence. As well as new blood, familiar faces from camp Defected are in abundance, including the likes of Copyright with Circuit Break from the new 'One Track Mind's e.p) and Riva Starr's cut of Reboot's Enjoy Music. It has everything, the funky vibes, epic drops and overall this compilation encapsulates the energy that makes Ibiza what it is. This is the soundtrack to the summer sun and i couldn't recommend investing in this album enough. Snap it up in HMV or on iTunes from May 24th, but meanwhile give it a listen here HERE.
Once again Size records have me excited in the form of this truly epic e.p from Kim Fai. Better known for his legendary cut of Steve Angello's 'Isabel', Birmingham based Fai is back on May 19th with two landmark offerings: P.S & Kato. 'P.S' is close and mechanical sounding offering, dropping into a smooth trance-like build-up on occasions, while 'Kato' fashions that epic and progressive sound that Size clearly have an ear for, Ingrosso style strings and all! This guy is going to be huge, so make sure you catch him supporting Swedish House Mafia on May 28th @ Brixton academy, Pacha Ibiza on June 21st or at the legendary Ministry of Sound June 12th with Dave Spoon and TV Rock.
Radar
It has been long overdue, but finally Laidback Luke will be blessing the city of London. Catch the Netherland's finest @ Matter May 29th with support from Bart B More and Electro-Houses finest Wolfgang Gartner
Don't forget that May is the month of random House nights. BINGO PLAYERS & RIVA STARR take on the Middlesbrough Arena May 30th, while Southampton's Junk plays host to Defected once again with no less ATFC and Shovell in attendance on May 8th. Also, Foamo and Lee Mortimer go head-to-head May 22nd with 'Superman' at Leeds University union for a night of ridiculously heavy music!
Whatever you chose to do with your weekend, get lost in the music, spread the love, and remember: You heard it here at..
